Heating Effects of Current: By using electricity, an exact amount of heat can be produced precisely at the point where it is needed.
Applications: Electric heating is used in many home appliances, including clothes driers, toasters coffee makers, to heat rooms and houses; to provide high temperatures required in various industrial processes; and in heat lamps used for drying paint, baking and relieving from muscular pain.
Electricity can be converted into heat in several ways. The most familiar method is by making use of resistance of a conductor to the flow of electricity. Most electrically heated home appliances and industrial ovens make use of the resistance principle. Electrical current is sent through a poor conductor of electricity, called a heating element. Being a poor conductor, the clement resists the flow of electrons and heat energy is produced.
